Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has called on South African Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Samson Gwede Mantashe.
The event which happened on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of the Africa Energy Week on-going in Cape Town, South Africa, according to Dr. Prempeh was to deepen the already existing bilateral ties between Ghana and South Africa.
Discussions centered on how the two countries can continue to leverage on their hydrocarbon resources for economic growth.

Dr. Prempeh in his remarks called for a deepened collaboration between the energy sectors of the two countries because of the importance of energy to a national economy.
The Minister who is also MP for Manhyia South said Ghana’s robust legal and regulatory regime that serves as a framework for the efficient utilisation of our resources, exists to ensure fairness for the investor and the state.

He therefore reassured the Minister of his commitment at creating a conducive environment for all investor partners including those of South African origin.
On his part Mantashe expressed delight at the delegation’s visit and expressed the South African energy sector’s commitment to the friendship between the two energy sectors.

The Ghanaian delegation included High Commissioner of the Ghana High Commission in South Africa, Charles Owiredu, Petroleum Commission CEO and some officials of the Commission as well as other senior officials of the Ghana mission in South Africa.
