Earl International Group (GH) Gold Limited has denied reports that one of its workers shot an illegal miner underground, saying none of its security personnel fired a weapon during an alleged invasion of its mining area at Gbane in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.
A statement issued by the company on Monday(2 November), said dozens of illegal miners, many reportedly armed, invaded its underground mining area on Thursday night, October 29, 2026, allegedly attacking personnel and damaging operational infrastructure and equipment.
The company listed electrical cables, tricycles, ventilation fans and CCTV cameras among the items damaged during the incident.
Earl Group said its security personnel, provided by Reliable Protection Services (RPS), exercised restraint and did not discharge firearms during the incident.
Management said it learnt of the alleged shooting incident through the Ghana Police Service and, at the Police’s request, directed RPS’s Head of Operations to report to the Regional Police Command to assist with investigations.
The company said it would continue cooperating with the Police to facilitate a thorough investigation.
