E/R : Sixteen feared dead in crash at Akyem Safo

At least Sixteen passengers   died on the spot when two Kia Grandbird buses collided at Akyem Asafo in the Eastern Region.

According to eyewitness , a Kia Grandbird with registration number GT5629-18 which was traveling from Accra towards Kumasi with passengers on board .

The vehicle upon reaching the Akyem Asafo section of the road made an unsafe overtaken and in the process crushed head on with another Kia Grandbird with registration numberGE5510-15 which was traveling from Kumasi towards Accra killing the 16 people from both vehicles.

Several passengers are reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries and we’re rushed to the Suhum Government hospital and the Akyem Asafo health center for treatment.

Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ambulance service from Suhum, Kibi and Ayensuano have been assisting the police to clear the vehicles to make way for free flow of traffic while the bodies of the dead have been deposited at the Suhum Government hospital for identification.
