Narawa Company Limited has alleged that about 13 groups are conducting illegal mining on its concession, with six excavators and gold concentrates valued at approximately GH¢100 million reportedly stolen.
The company also claims that plant infrastructure worth more than US$2 million has been destroyed amid the alleged illegal occupation of its mining site.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, Narawa’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Doris Attoh, said the concession had been under illegal occupation since August 12, 2026.
She said the company was seeking state intervention to secure the site, remove unauthorised occupants and restore management’s access.
According to Narawa, armed individuals have prevented its management from accessing the concession, hampering its ability to carry out environmental mitigation duties.
The company said it had notified the Chief Inspector of Mines and the Environmental Protection Authority of the reported damage and had initiated legal proceedings over the alleged invasion and related losses.
