The Central Regional Police Command has described as untrue claims of assault levelled against police officers by comedian, Benson Boateng popularly known as Funny Face.
The comedian is seen in a video which has gone viral being arrested by some police officers at Kasoa with the comedian trying to free himself from the grips of the said police officers.
The comedian in a subsequent video is heard accusing the police officers of brutalizing’ him in the process of his arrest and even when he was being taken to the Millennium City police station in Kasoa.
The regional command in their response indicate that police officers who were indeed dispatched to effect his arrest only applied minimum force as the comedian resisted arrest.
According to the police , the comedian was arrested following a complaint by one Ex WOI Charles Akwasi Owusu , resident of Millennium City in Kasoa who reported that the comedian had pulled a pump action gun during a fight at the drinking spot with his bar attendant as Funny Face even fired four gun shots in the process thereby creating disorder at the said bar.
The police add that the comedian was finally overpowered and detained at the Millennium City Police Station at Kasoa and was subsequently granted police enquiry bail the next day which was Tuesday , 9th of February , 2021 as the comedian is being investigated for discharging firearms without authority.
The service however assures the public of thorough investigations into the accusations of brutality by the comedian against the said police officers seen in the video.
