Two persons killed in a Gas Explosion at Denkyira Akuaboase

Two persons have lost their lives in gas explosion at a gold refinery at Denkyira Akuaboase in the Denkyira West of the Central region officials of the National Disaster Management in the district have confirmed.

The incident is said to have occurred after a gas cylinder they had just received from a vendor, after refilling, caught fire .

The identity of the deceased are yet to be made known according to  NADMO district coordinator, Mr. Godfred Sulley.

Report says the scene was not pleasant following the spotting of  pieces of human flesh around the place.

Officials believe the incident may have occurred following the heating up of the gas cylinder,


According to him, a motor rider was sent to fill a gas cylinder from the district capital which is Duaso and the rider had to transport the cylinder over the poor roads which was quite a distance.

Some four houses were also affected by the explosion in addition to the destruction of machinery at the refinery.

victims who were affected by the inferno were initially transferred to the Denkyira Government hospital but were later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) due to the severity of their wounds.
