The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor on Tuesday (19 March, 2024) led a delegation to officially congratulate the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General Thomas Oppong-Peprah for his current promotion.
President Akufo-Addo in January appointed the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah as the Chief of Defence Staff, effective Thursday, February 1, 2024.
The Minister admonished the corporation and dedication of the Ghana Armed Forces in the fight against illegal mining, armed land guards, condoning forest reserves and their collaboration in moving logistics for the Aggressive Afforestation Policy – Green Ghana Day.

According to Jinapor, the Ministry is in consultation with the President to ensure the Ghana Armed Forces hosts the President for the commemorative Green Ghana Day set on June 7th, 2024.
He added that this year’s agenda for Green Ghana Day is to plant 10 million trees across the country.
Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen Thomas Oppong Peprah, extended his gratitude to the Minister for his solemn gesture.
He assured that the Ghana Armed Forces will immediately collaborate with the Ministry to achieve its set goals.
He further accepted the responsibility of hosting the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the upcoming Green Ghana Day .
The Chief of Defence Staff also requested for quarterly meetings with relevant stakeholders to know the way forward in deploying their duties as challenges may vary from varies institutions.
