The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has reported a power system disturbance on the National Interconnected Transmission System, resulting in interruptions to electricity supply across parts of the country.
According to GRIDCo, the disturbance occurred at approximately 3:11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and led to the simultaneous tripping of some generating plants connected to the national power system.
GRIDCo said it has activated its established system restoration procedures, with engineers and system operators working continuously in collaboration with other power sector stakeholders to restore electricity supply.
The company said the restoration process is being undertaken with safety considerations in mind, as efforts continue to return affected customers to supply as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, GRIDCo has commenced a comprehensive technical investigation to determine the precise cause of the system disturbance.
The transmission company apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused by the interruption and appealed for patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue.
GRIDCo said it remains committed to restoring electricity supply to all affected customers safely and as quickly as possible.
The company added that it will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
