The Director General of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA), Ing. Abel Didier Tella, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), Ing. Frank Otchere, as part of preparations for the upcoming APUA Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be hosted in Ghana.
Ing. Tella led a three-member delegation comprising Ing. Isaac Darfour Manu, Technical Director of APUA, and Mr. Jeannot Koudebi, Head of Communication and Corporate Affairs.
The delegation met with the GRIDCo Chief Executive and members of the company’s management team to discuss support for the continental event.
The APUA AGM is scheduled to take place from July 27 to July 31, 2026, and will bring together power utility leaders and industry stakeholders from across Africa.

GRIDCo is a member of APUA, alongside other power utilities in Ghana. The meeting formed part of efforts to mobilize support and ensure the successful hosting of the annual gathering.
According to the parties, Ghana’s hosting of the AGM presents an opportunity to showcase collaboration within the country’s power sector while strengthening partnerships among electricity utilities across the continent.

To coordinate preparations for the event, a planning committee has been established under the leadership of the Volta River Authority (VRA). The committee includes representatives from GRIDCo and the Bui Power Authority.
The APUA AGM is expected to provide a platform for discussions on key developments, challenges and opportunities in Africa’s energy and power utility sector
