Williams Okofo-Dateh,
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), Williams Okofo-Dateh, participated in the 28th China Mining Conference and Exhibition held in Tianjin, China, from September 10 to 12, 2026.
Mr Okofo-Dateh was part of Ghana’s delegation to the three-day international mining event, which was led by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.
Held under the theme, “Win-Win Cooperation, Green and Intelligent,” the conference brought together government officials, mining companies, investors, industry experts, technology providers and other stakeholders from the global mining sector.
GIISDEC used the platform to showcase Ghana’s iron ore potential and engage prospective investors and strategic partners on opportunities in mineral exploration, processing, iron and steel production, technology transfer and related infrastructure development.
The focus of the conference on sustainable and technology-driven mining also provided an opportunity for GIISDEC to highlight its commitment to developing Ghana’s iron and steel industry in line with responsible mineral resource development.
The Corporation said its participation was aimed at strengthening international partnerships, exploring investment opportunities and attracting the technology and expertise required to advance Ghana’s integrated iron and steel industry.
GIISDEC is continuing engagements with strategic investors, technology companies and other industry stakeholders as it pursues the development of Ghana’s iron and steel value chain.
