The Mantrac Ghana–Zijin Akyem Mine team has recorded one million man-hours worked without a lost-time injury (LTI), according to Mantrac Ghana.
The company said the milestone was achieved by its team supporting operations at Zijin Akyem Mine, following the last recorded LTI on May 11, 2024.
Mantrac Ghana attributed the achievement to workplace safety practices, including hazard identification, regular inspections, continuous training and workers looking out for one another.

The milestone was celebrated at the mine site with the participation of Zijin’s maintenance leadership, Mantrac Ghana’s leadership from Accra, Akyem site management and members of the workforce.
The company said the achievement reflected a shared commitment to its Zero Harm philosophy, which focuses on protecting workers and preventing workplace injuries.
Mantrac Ghana said it would continue to strengthen its safety culture and promote practices aimed at ensuring workers return home safely.
The company congratulated the Mantrac Ghana–Zijin maintenance and repair and component (MARC) team on the milestone, while reaffirming its commitment to workplace safety.
The announcement did not provide details of the total workforce covered by the milestone or the specific safety indicators used to calculate the one million man-hours.
