Matilda Asante- Asiedu
Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has assumed the role of the central bank’s representative on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
The Bank of Ghana said Mrs Asante-Asiedu was nominated to the GoldBod Board in accordance with Section 4 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
The provision requires the Bank of Ghana to be represented on the GoldBod Board by the Governor or an official of the Bank not below the rank of Director.
The central bank said Mrs Asante-Asiedu has since assumed the role and now represents the Bank on the GoldBod Board.
Her appointment follows the departure of Governor Dr Johnson Asiama from the GoldBod Board. The BoG said Dr Asiama ceased to be a member of the board effective 11 May 2026 and has not participated in any of its meetings or activities since then.
The clarification was issued by the Bank of Ghana on 28 September 2026 following recent public commentary about its representation on the GoldBod Board.
The Bank said it remains committed to high standards of governance and transparency, including avoiding actual or perceived conflicts of interest in the discharge of its mandate.
