IC Securities (Ghana) Ltd, sponsor and local market maker of the NewGold Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), has announced the addition of two new in-country brokers to support trading of the gold-backed investment product on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).
The newly appointed brokers—Databank Brokerage Limited and Blackstar Brokerage Limited—will join the existing local market maker network for NewGold ETF, commonly traded under the symbol GLD.
According to IC Securities, the move will give investors broader access and liquidity, enabling both retail and institutional investors to trade GLD more efficiently.
The addition of more authorised brokers is expected to support tighter two-way pricing, strengthen secondary market depth, and promote investor education and research distribution across multiple platforms.
“Expanding the broker network promotes broader investor participation, fosters secondary market depth, and advances Ghana’s ETF ecosystem. It also enhances best-execution outcomes for clients,” IC Securities said in the announcement.
NewGold ETF, which trades during normal GSE hours, provides investors with exchange-listed exposure to the price performance of gold bullion, making it a simple, transparent, and cost-efficient way to diversify investment portfolios.
Trading and settlement will continue to follow the Ghana Stock Exchange’s standard arrangements, with buy or sell orders placed in standard board lots through licensed brokers.
The development marks another step in deepening Ghana’s capital market infrastructure and strengthening the country’s role in Africa’s emerging ETF landscape.
