Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has welcomed the launch of new non-stop international flight services that are expected to strengthen the country’s economic diplomacy, trade, and tourism drive.

Delta Air Lines on Monday 1 December reintroduced its non-stop Accra–Atlanta route. The reinstated service is expected to enhance connectivity between Ghana and one of the United States’ busiest aviation hubs.

Ablakwa also disclosed that Canadian airline Air Transat will begin a historic non-stop service between Ghana and Canada on June 17, 2026. The route marks the first direct commercial flight linking the two countries.

He stated that both developments will offer greater convenience to Ghanaian travellers while supporting government efforts to expand economic and tourism partnerships.

“These refreshing developments will accelerate our economic diplomacy objectives, boost trade and tourism, and offer value and convenience mainly to Ghanaian travellers,” Ablakwa said.
