
At least Eighteen people have been confirmed dead by the police following a collision between two vehicles on Wednesday at Fulfulso on the Buipe Tamale Highway.
The incident occurred after a Yutong buses with registration number GT 3345 travelling from Kumasi to Zebila and another Garu -Kumasi bound Yutong bus with registration number AC 1699-20 collided on reaching Sarekyekura near Fufulso on the Buipe – Tamale Highway.
Inspector Adjekum Owusu, Acting Police PRO said Sixteen persons made up of 12 male adults, 3 female adults and 1 female child died on the spot.
According to him forty – five persons on board the two vehicles sustained various degrees of injury and were rushed to Buipe Polyclinic and Holistic Medicare Hospital, Buipe for treatment.
Two more person’s have died whilst receiving treatment at Holistic Medicare Hospital bringing the death toll from sixteen to eighteen.
Asaase Radio’s Correspondent Tahiru Abdul -Washiru said efforts are underway to tow the accident vehicles to the station and trace both drivers to assist in investigation.
Meanwhile the deceased persons have been conveyed to Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary for preservation awaiting identification and autopsy.
