Residents of Tema and parts of Accra will experience an interruption in water supply following emergency repair works at the Kpong Treatment Plant, the Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) has announced.
The company said damage to the raw water transmission pipeline serving the facility on Thursday, August 28, 2025, forced a shutdown of operations. Repair works have already commenced and are expected to last for three days.
The affected areas include the entire Tema Metropolis and several parts of Accra, such as Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, and surrounding communities.
GWL has advised residents to store enough water while supply is still available. It further encouraged essential service providers, including hospitals and schools, to contact the company for support during the outage.
The water utility firm reassured the public that supply will be restored immediately after the repairs are completed.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued customers,” GWL said in a statement.
