The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a robbery syndicate in connection with a violent robbery involving a gold buyer at Wassa Akropong in the Tarkwa area.
According to the Police, the robbery occurred on March 11, 2026, when the victim, Mr. Oris Oduro, was attacked by armed men after closing his gold-buying business at Tamakloe. He had hired a commercial motorbike (Okada) rider to transport him home when the assailants intercepted them and robbed them at gunpoint.
The suspects allegedly made away with GHC 24,000 in cash, seven pounds and six matches of gold valued at GH₵94,530, an iPhone XR and a Tecno Spark 12 mobile phone.
Following investigations, intelligence-led operations conducted at Duaso and Domeabra on July 21 and 22, 2026, led to the arrest of Kwabena Amuah, 25, alias IK; Mohammed Nasir, 28, alias Mallam; Samuel Agyei, 24, alias Okese-1; and Kofi Gyasi, 26, alias Brefo.
The four suspects were arraigned before the Wassa Akropong District Court on July 23, 2026, where they were remanded into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Police said efforts are underway to arrest another suspect, identified only as Agogo, and appealed to the public to provide credible information on his whereabouts.
