The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, July 3, 2026, will be observed as a public holiday across Ghana.
In a statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Ministry noted that Republic Day falls on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, which is a statutory public holiday.
However, in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601), as amended, President John Dramani Mahama has, by Executive Instrument (E.I.), declared Friday, July 3, 2026, as a public holiday to be observed nationwide.
The declaration means that Ghanaians will officially observe the Republic Day holiday on Friday, July 3, 2026.
