More than 100 oil palm farmers supported by the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation have received training in the use of organic fertilisers to improve soil fertility and promote sustainable farming.
The three-day training brought together farmers from Samahu, Tebe, Huniso, Pepesa and Awudua, equipping them with practical knowledge of agronomic practices and the benefits of applying organic fertilisers.

The training was also extended to officers of the Tarkwa Local Prisons, where the Foundation recently supported the establishment of a 20-acre oil palm plantation under its Prisons Agro-Support and Empowerment (PASE) Project.

Experts from Green-Gro Limited and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture facilitated the sessions.
Since 2022, the Foundation has supported 544 oil palm farmers with farm inputs, including high-yielding tenera oil palm seedlings, weedicides and personal protective equipment.

The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s efforts to support agricultural livelihoods and promote sustainable economic opportunities in its host communities.
