Gold Fields Ghana Limited has committed US$5 million to Ghana football under a new two-year sponsorship agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The partnership, announced on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the company’s headquarters in Accra, makes Gold Fields Ghana an Official Partner of Ghana football and will support the Black Stars, Black Queens, Women’s Premier League and the Black Challenge national amputee football team.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku described the agreement as a historic moment for Ghana football, saying it renews a long-standing relationship between Gold Fields Ghana and the sport.
He recalled the company’s support for the Black Stars more than two decades ago, noting that it contributed to Ghana’s historic qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.
Simeon-Okraku also praised Gold Fields Ghana for its investment in football infrastructure, particularly the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, and its continued support for community sports development.
Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Gold Fields Ghana, Elliot Twum, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sports development and talent nurturing across the country.

The sponsorship comes at a key time for Ghana football, with the Black Stars preparing for the FIFA World Cup and the Black Queens gearing up for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The deal is expected to boost women’s football, para-sports and broader football development in Ghana.
