The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, in partnership with the Tarkwa Rotary Club has organised a medical outreach and breast cancer screening for our host community members in New Subri.
Over 100 women went through breast cancer screening, and more than 450 people were tested for various ailments, relating to malaria, hypertension, vision, blood sugar and blood pressure.
Free medication was provided, and 13 people were referred to hospitals.
Community members also received education on breast cancer and its symptoms, emphasising the importance of healthy lifestyles and regular self-examination to prevent late-stage detection.
The Foundation also partnered with the National Health Insurance Scheme to register and renew insurance cards for over 540 community members.
An impressive 80% of the volunteers at the outreach were former and current recipients of the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation scholarship programme.
Committed to enhancing healthcare in its host communities, the Foundation invested over GHC 220,000 in the outreach.
