The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has welcomed 125 students from its host communities onto its scholarship programme.
Comprising 67 females and 58 males, the scholars will pursue higher education in various public universities and tertiary institutions across the country.
This brings the total number of students who have been awarded scholarships to 2,736 over the past two decades. More than US$88,000 has been allocated for the first academic year of this cohort.
With close to US$36 million invested in education and skills training over the past 20 years, the Foundation’s scholarship programme has impacted lives and shaped the futures of young people in our host communities.
Also, to get school children in the host communities interested in science, engineering and technology, the Foundation is piloting a new smart lab initiative that will expose them to artificial intelligence and robotics.
A state-of-the-art lab will soon open its doors to the school children. Four teachers have been trained to take these young minds on this exciting journey.
