At the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2026 Breakfast Meeting, Gertrude Emefa Donkor, Managing Director of GoldBod Jewellery Limited, outlined strategies to empower youth, women, and SMEs in Ghana’s artisanal and small-scale mining sector.
She proposed targeted skills training, simplified digital regulations, inclusive financing, and deeper integration of local SMEs into mining value chains and regional trade.
According to Ms. Donkor, these measures are essential to overcoming skills gaps, regulatory hurdles, and limited access to finance, while boosting innovation, rural development, and shared prosperity.

Highlighting GoldBod’s efforts, she cited the company’s work in fair gold purchasing, liquidity access, traceability, technical support, and value addition, emphasizing the prioritization of women and youth employment in the sector.
Donkor called for collective action to make mining a driver of equity, dignity, and sustainable growth in Ghana.
