The Minerals Commission joined traditional leaders, government officials and community members at Nkroful, the birthplace of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to celebrate NkrumahFest 2026.
The festival, held to commemorate the 117th anniversary of Dr Nkrumah’s birth, was organised under the message that his legacy continues to shape Ghana’s development.
The Board and Management of the Minerals Commission were fully represented at the event, highlighting the Commission’s commitment to honouring Ghana’s history and recognising Dr Nkrumah’s contribution to the country’s development.
The Commission’s participation also highlighted the relevance of Dr Nkrumah’s vision of industrialisation and the strategic use of Ghana’s natural resources to national development.
By joining the celebrations alongside traditional authorities, government representatives and members of the Nkroful community, the Minerals Commission used the occasion to strengthen its engagement with stakeholders and reaffirm its role in the stewardship of Ghana’s mineral resources.
The festival featured speeches, cultural displays and tributes in honour of Dr Nkrumah, providing an opportunity to reflect on his contribution to Ghana’s independence and his broader vision for economic and industrial development.
For the Minerals Commission, the commemoration also underscored the importance of responsible management of Ghana’s mineral wealth in support of national development.
The Commission’s presence at NkrumahFest 2026 therefore served both as a tribute to Dr Nkrumah’s legacy and as a reaffirmation of its commitment to responsible mineral resource governance, national development and engagement with communities and other stakeholders.
