Newmont Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Natascha Viljoen, has held a series of high-level meetings in Accra with President John Dramani Mahama and the United States Chargé d’Affaires to Ghana, Rolf Olson, as part of efforts to deepen collaboration in Ghana’s mining sector.
The meetings, which also involved Newmont’s Chief Sustainability and Development Officer, Peter Toth, and the company’s Ghana regional leadership, focused on strengthening partnerships and advancing responsible mining practices in the country.
According to Newmont, the discussions reaffirmed its long-standing relationship with Ghana, where the company has operated for over two decades, and underscored a shared commitment to ensuring that mining contributes meaningfully to economic growth and community development.
The company also highlighted the importance of maintaining a stable and predictable regulatory environment to support continued investment and sustainable mining operations.
Newmont expressed appreciation to President Mahama and Chargé d’Affaires Olson for what it described as constructive engagements, noting its commitment to advancing safe, responsible, and value-driven mining in Ghana.
