At least nine people have been confirmed dead following a fatal road traffic collision at Sronoase in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said it received a distress call at 4:57 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2026, and swiftly dispatched a nine-member rescue team led by Sub Officer Peter Clever to the scene.
The accident involved a passenger bus with registration number GS 2564-20 and a Kia Rhino truck (GR 4958-K) loaded with provisions. According to the GNFS, 42 occupants were involved, with several trapped in the wreckage.
Rescue teams carried out extrication operations and successfully saved 33 victims, who were transported to the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.
Seven people were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others later died at the hospital, bringing the total number of fatalities to nine.
