Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe and Aliko Dangote
The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority(NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe has paid a working visit to Dangote Refinery in Lagos, Nigeria.
This, is Edudzi Tamekloe first official visit following his appointment as the boss of Ghana’s petroleum downstream regulator by President John Mahama.
The NPA boss used the opportunity to also meet and discuss a myriad of issues bothering on possible areas of collaboration with Founder of the Dangote Refinery Aliko Dangote.
Throwing more light on the visit on Accra based TV3 on Monday (20 January), Edudzi Tamekloe said the visit is in line with President Mahatma’s vision of exploring avenues to make fuel prices cheaper.
”Well, like I pointed out, His Excellency President Mahama has a vision to get cheaper fuel. Because, you see, one of the things that we’ve always struggled with is higher fuel prices. And the trickle-down effect is always impactful.
”Our people are always at the brunt of it. So together, you have a neighbouring, an African, a giant for that matter, who has put up such a huge, humongous, I mean, you should take a toll of the whole zoo, huge. And if you have somebody who is doing about almost 650 tons or whatever of fuel.”
”And you want a situation where Ghana, Nigeria, collaborates to ensure that ultimately we’ll have cheaper fuel, but high quality. Remember that what we do, what we’ll be doing, will be the issue of regulation to ensure that the right thing is done. So you want to go there and inspect,” he said.
