The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has cautioned Ghanaians against patronising Toyota Voxy vehicles for long-distance and commercial travel.
The Authority has also advised importers to desist from importing right-hand-drive Toyota Voxy vehicles and other vehicles intended for conversion.
This follows an advisory issued by the NRSA on Monday, April 13, based on the findings of a technical working group tasked with assessing the safety and operational suitability of the vehicle.
According to the report, the Toyota Voxy is manufactured exclusively as a right-hand-drive vehicle, and its conversion to left-hand drive is not approved by the manufacturer due to safety concerns.
The NRSA further noted that it will collaborate with key institutions—including the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), National Insurance Commission (NIC), and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD)—to enforce the recommendations and improve road safety.
