Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed deep concern over the increasing number of land disputes among traditional councils under his jurisdiction.
During a meeting of the Asanteman Council on Thursday, October 16, 2025, the Asantehene revealed that he had received a detailed report from the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, outlining the growing conflicts and listing chiefs involved in the disputes.
Otumfuo described the situation as worrying and urged all parties to submit their grievances to him for resolution rather than resorting to violence or self-help.
“If you think another chief has taken part of your land, bring the issue before me and I will look into it. You don’t have to take the law into your own hands,” he advised.
The Asantehene assured that he would summon the chiefs named in the report individually for discussions and urged all affected parties to exercise restraint.
“Don’t push me to summon you publicly. Put everything on hold until I review the disputes. Please abide by this directive to ensure peace,” Otumfuo cautioned.
