The Ghana Police Service has identified, arrested and interdicted General Corporal Robert Koranteng in connection with the death of Ivan Baidoo, a second-year law student of Central University.
Baidoo died following a motorbike crash on the Tema Motorway on August 27, 2026.
According to a petition filed by the deceased’s family, Baidoo was travelling as a pillion passenger on a motorbike when the rider, Samuel Arthur Wesley, was allegedly chased by a police patrol officer on another motorbike.
The petition states that Wesley told investigators at the Airport Police Station that the police officer caught up with them and allegedly hit their motorbike from behind, causing the rider and Baidoo to fall.
The Ghana Police Service said its Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is conducting further investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has also been tasked with investigating the conduct of General Corporal Koranteng, who is currently in custody.
The Police Service said appropriate action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigations.
