The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of an 11-year-old girl, Blessing Innocent, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects, identified as Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and his 19-year-old apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe, were arrested on October 20, according to a police statement issued on October 21, 2026.
The police said the case was reported to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Gomoa Buduburam District Police Station on October 19, after the girl’s mother reported that her daughter had been missing since October 17.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the girl visited the two suspects, who were neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on October 17. The police said that was the last place she was seen.
According to the police, further investigations led to the arrest of the suspects. During interrogation, both reportedly admitted that the girl had been with them on the day she went missing.
The police statement said further investigations indicated that Otaigbe had lured the girl into an uncompleted building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her. He allegedly realised she had died afterwards.
The police said Otaigbe subsequently led investigators to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed under shrubs. The body was recovered and conveyed to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital.
Arrangements were being made for an autopsy at the Police Hospital, the statement said.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
