Atlantic Lithium Limited has confirmed that the Mining Lease for its flagship Ewoyaa Lithium Project has been resubmitted to Ghana’s Parliament by the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources for ratification.
The company said the lease has been formally referred to Parliament’s Select Committee on Lands, Forestry, and Mines for consideration — the final step required to complete the project’s permitting process.
The committee is expected to review the agreement and make a recommendation to the full House for or against ratification, in accordance with due parliamentary process.
The Ewoyaa Mining Lease was initially granted in October 2023 and submitted to the previous (Eighth) Parliament, but was not ratified before the end of its session.
The renewed submission to the current Parliament, which commenced sitting on 21 October 2025, revives hopes for Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine.
“We are pleased to note that the Ewoyaa Mining Lease has been put to Parliament for consideration in the current parliamentary sitting,” said Keith Muller, Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Lithium. “We hope that ratification can swiftly follow, serving as a key catalyst for the financing and development of the project.”
The 15-year lease grants Atlantic Lithium exclusive rights to mine and commercially produce lithium at Ewoyaa in Ghana’s Central Region. With all other regulatory approvals secured — including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) permit in September 2024 and the Mine Operating Permit in October 2024 — parliamentary ratification represents the final milestone before project financing and construction can proceed.
Atlantic Lithium, which is listed on the AIM, ASX, and Ghana Stock Exchange, is developing the Ewoyaa Project under an earn-in agreement with Piedmont Lithium Inc. Once operational, the project will establish Ghana as a new entrant in the global lithium supply chain.
While the company remains optimistic that Parliament will ratify the lease, it cautioned that there can be no certainty about the timing or outcome of the process.
