Mining is reshaping football in many different ways.
One way mining is advancing the game is through the smart footballs being used in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
If you did not know, the official match balls contain embedded sensors that help track ball movement and generate data during games. The electronic components in these sensors are made from mined minerals.
Some of the minerals used in the sensors include silicon, copper, lithium, cobalt, tungsten, and several others. I cannot leave gold out either.
So, when you watch the next match, remember that mining is contributing to the technology behind the game. The players may score the goals, but minerals from mines around the world are also playing their part.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the many ways mining and mining communities contribute to the FIFA World Cup.
