Dr Sulemanu Koney
The Ghana Chamber of Mines has extended heartfelt gratitude to Dr Sulemanu Koney for his outstanding service and leadership, following the conclusion of his tenure as Chief Executive Officer.
Dr. Koney, who served the Chamber for more than 20 years—10 of those as CEO—is being celebrated for his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and transformative contributions to Ghana’s mining sector.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday(9 April), the Chamber expressed deep appreciation for his tireless advocacy in promoting a responsible, inclusive, and sustainable mining industry. “Your visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and tireless advocacy for a responsible, inclusive, and sustainable mining industry have left an indelible mark on Ghana’s mining sector,” the statement read.
Under Dr Koney’s stewardship, the Chamber strengthened its role as a leading voice in the sector, engaging stakeholders, driving policy dialogue, and championing sustainable development practices.
His ability to foster collaboration between industry, government, and communities has been widely praised and will remain a defining legacy of his time in office.
As he passes the baton, the Chamber, its members, and the broader mining community salute Dr. Koney for his extraordinary contributions and lasting impact. His leadership will continue to inspire generations of professionals within the mining industry and beyond.
