An Artisanal Gold Council (AGC) delegation has engaged officials of the Embassy of Canada in Mali and representatives of major Canadian mining companies operating in the country as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration within Mali’s mining sector.
The engagements took place during the 2026 Golden Days forum held from May 7 to 9 at the Bamako International Conference Center (CICB), a major platform focused on Mali’s mining and energy industries.
According to AGC, discussions with the Canadian diplomatic mission and mining companies centred on identifying opportunities for collaboration between industrial mining firms and artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) stakeholders.
The talks also explored ways to promote responsible mining practices, improve financial inclusion for mining communities, and support more sustainable and inclusive development across the sector.

AGC noted that the engagements reflected growing interest among stakeholders in building stronger partnerships between large-scale mining operators and artisanal miners to address challenges within the industry.
The delegation further highlighted the importance of continued dialogue among governments, mining companies, development partners, and local mining communities in advancing responsible gold production and sustainable sector growth in Mali.
The 2026 Golden Days forum brought together policymakers, mining companies, financial institutions, and development organisations to discuss key issues affecting Mali’s mining and energy sectors.
