The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has directed Mobile Money Fintech Limited (MMFL) to suspend the implementation of its proposed 0.75 percent fee on direct wallet-to-bank transfers pending further consultations.
In a statement, the central bank said the fee, which was scheduled to take effect on June 1, 2026, has been put on hold to allow for additional stakeholder engagement.
According to the Bank of Ghana, the decision is aimed at ensuring that any changes to charges within the mobile financial services ecosystem are introduced in a fair manner that protects consumers and supports their financial wellbeing.
The BoG reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the interests of users of digital financial services while promoting confidence and stability within the sector.
