Ghana international Francis Abu has successfully undergone surgery following the injury he sustained during the recent match between Ghana and Japan.
The player suffered fractures to two bones during the game, raising immediate concerns about his fitness and recovery timeline.
The surgery, conducted at Toyota Memorial Hospital in Japan, was coordinated by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) through the efforts of Dr. Prince Pambo, head of medical for the Black Stars, in collaboration with medical colleagues from Toulouse FC and the surgical team in Japan.
In a statement, the GFA expressed gratitude to all who supported Abu during this period, including the Black Stars management and technical team, and pledged continued support to ensure he returns to full fitness.
The GFA confirmed that the acute phase of Abu’s rehabilitation has now begun.
To support his recovery, the Black Stars management and technical team have arranged for a physiotherapist to stay with the player to assist with intensive physiotherapy sessions.
Plans are also underway for a senior member of the technical team to accompany him to his home base in France once he is discharged.
