The Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI) has arrested four individuals linked to Power Distribution Services (PDS) as part of ongoing investigations into the transfer of large sums of money believed to belong to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu disclosed that the arrests were carried out last week and form part of efforts to probe suspected financial irregularities involving the defunct power distribution firm.
The individuals have been identified as Philip Ayensu, Viraj Phat, Sophia Korkor, and Justice Menka-Premoh.
According to the update, all four have since been granted bail pending further investigations by authorities.

The PDS scandal refers to the controversy surrounding the Power Distribution Services (PDS) concession in Ghana, where the company was briefly handed over the management of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) distribution assets in 2019.
The arrangement was terminated within months after government alleged that PDS had presented invalid demand guarantees in the transaction process. This led to concerns about due diligence, governance, and the integrity of the concession agreement.
Since then, investigations have continued into financial transactions linked to the deal, with authorities probing potential mismanagement and the movement of ECG-related funds. The case has remained one of Ghana’s most significant public-private partnership controversies in the power sector.
