Brenda M. Tambatamba
Zambia’s newly appointed Minister of Mines and Minerals Development, Brenda M. Tambatamba, has officially reported for duty at the ministry’s headquarters, where she was welcomed by Permanent Secretary Dr Hapenga M. Kabeta.
Tambatamba brings mining-sector experience to the role, having served as Sustainability Manager at Barrick Lumwana Mining Company for nearly 10 years.
Before her appointment, she served as Minister of Labour and Social Security from September 2021 to May 2026.

In her new role, she is expected to oversee the government’s mining-sector agenda, including a target to increase annual copper production to three million metric tonnes by 2031.
Her appointment comes as Zambia seeks to expand mineral production, attract investment and strengthen mining’s contribution to national economic development.
Tambatamba is the Member of Parliament for Kasempa Constituency in Zambia’s North-Western Province.
