Journalist Israel Laryea has spoken publicly following a social media storm involving his wife, Louisa Laryea, and a light-hearted banter with Ghone Tv’s Lily Mohammed that went viral.
In a detailed post, Mr. Laryea said he and his wife had discussed the backlash extensively, noting that while people may freely express themselves, they cannot control how others interpret or spin their words to fit personal narratives.
He clarified that Louisa never intended to body shame anyone and did not imply that Lily Mohammed had bleached her skin or undergone cosmetic procedures, stressing that she does not even know her personally.
According to him, any offence caused was unintentional, adding that once a post is made public, reactions are often beyond the author’s control.
Israel Laryea also addressed comments targeting his marriage and personal attacks against his wife, describing them as unfair and unwarranted. He defended Louisa, praising her appearance and resilience after raising three children.
He further criticised individuals he described as “friends” who joined or fueled the trolling, stating that genuine friends would seek clarification privately rather than amplify controversy online.
