The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has so far completed 16 Community Day Senior High School building projects, commonly called E-Blocks initiated by under the NDC administration.
Administrator of GETFund, Dr Richard Ampofo revealed this when he appeared on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Friday(1 November).
”For the e-blocks that they said we have abandoned, they completed 22 for the GETFUND one, because it was 101, so they completed 22 as at December 2016.
”We have completed 16 of that, so the initiator even did 22 and we have done 16, the other thing is that 21 of them, we have revised the rate for it to be completed.”
“We realised that the payment of the contractor does not necessarily translates into project completion, so even though we have paid the contractors that time, we found out that, some of the projects were left,” he said.
Legacy projects
Dr Richard Ampofo last month said GETFund has overseen the completion of 1,823 legacy projects and 1,245 new projects which has significantly improved the infrastructure of schools and tertiary institutions, creating modern, well-equipped environments for learning.
The new facilities have alleviated overcrowding, enabling students to thrive academically in more conducive learning spaces.
Moreover, the construction of ICT centers in rural schools has help bridge the gap of digital divide, ensuring that students from underserved communities have access to modern technology.
