The Ghana Chamber of Mines has launched the 12th Ghana Mining Industry Awards (GMIA), opening nominations for mining companies, contractors, service providers and industry professionals whose work contributed to the sector during the 2025 reporting year.
The Awards recognize excellence in innovation, safety, environmental stewardship, local content, community development and responsible mining.
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, described the GMIA as one of the industry’s most rigorous and transparent recognition programmes and urged eligible organisations and individuals to submit evidence-based nominations demonstrating measurable impact.
The Awards feature 14 public nomination categories, while technical awards—including Environmental Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Local Content and Exploration—will be determined using verified data from the Minerals Commission and the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
Nominations open on 15 July 2026 and close on 14 August 2026. Shortlisted nominees will be announced in early November, with winners to be honoured at the awards ceremony on 27 November 2026.
The Chamber has also introduced an online nominations portal to simplify the submission process.
