The Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) has paid a courtesy call on the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) to strengthen collaboration, promote transparency, and enhance accountability in Ghana’s extractive sector.
The meeting, held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the MIIF Head Office in Accra, brought together senior officials from both institutions to explore ways of improving governance and reporting mechanisms in the management of Ghana’s mineral revenues.
Welcoming the delegation, Mrs. Justina Nelson, Chief Executive Officer of MIIF, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to transparency, responsible investment, and sustainable value creation from Ghana’s mineral wealth.

She noted that MIIF’s core mandate is to prudently invest mineral income accruing to the Republic to generate long-term value for present and future generations.
“Partnerships such as this are crucial to ensuring that the benefits of our mineral resources are felt by all Ghanaians,” she said, adding that MIIF continues to strengthen its internal structures to safeguard public resources and ensure accountability.
Speaking on behalf of GHEITI, Dr Steve Manteaw, Co-Chair of the Initiative, said the visit aimed to engage MIIF’s new leadership and realign stakeholder roles under the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) framework.

He lauded MIIF for its progress in royalty collection, investment oversight, and reporting, while urging the Fund to further enhance transparency, particularly regarding dividends, royalty inflows, and investment decisions.
“GHEITI remains committed to promoting openness and ensuring that the management of mineral, oil, and gas revenues directly contributes to Ghana’s sustainable development,” Dr. Manteaw emphasized.
Discussions also focused on strengthening legal and institutional frameworks, improving coordination between MIIF, the Ministry of Finance, and other extractive sector agencies, as well as advancing local content and value addition in the mining industry.

Both institutions underscored the need to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into investment decisions to ensure responsible and sustainable growth.
At the end of the meeting, MIIF and GHEITI reaffirmed their shared commitment to transparency, good governance, and sustainable investment in Ghana’s extractive sector
