Petrosol CEO Michael Bozumbil
Ghanaian oil marketing company PETROSOL has reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, transparency, and customer trust, aligning itself with the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies’ (COMAC) call for greater accountability in the petroleum downstream sector.
The move comes as COMAC raises alarm over inconsistencies in Ghana’s petroleum supply data for the first half of 2025.
According to COMAC’s Mid-Year Industry Report, total petroleum supply increased by 17.65% between January and June, driven largely by a 4,500% surge in fuel oil consumption, mainly attributed to power generation.
COMAC’s CEO, Dr. Riverson Oppong, also flagged “suspiciously high” volumes reported by some oil marketing companies and unusual spikes in demand in the Upper East and Upper West regions, which the Chamber believes warrant further scrutiny.
“We cannot continue to allow these irregularities to persist. The industry must reset,” Dr. Oppong stated.
The Chamber has since written to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and the affected companies for clarification, urging reforms to strengthen transparency and data integrity in the downstream sector.
In response, PETROSOL, marking Customer Service Week 2025, expressed strong support for COMAC’s stance and reaffirmed its ethical foundation.
“As a company founded on ethical business practices, PETROSOL believes that any form of irregularity or unethical conduct not only undermines fair market competition but also erodes consumer trust,” said Michael Bosumbil, Chief Executive Officer of PETROSOL.
“Our customers are at the core of our business, and we are committed to delivering accurate quantities and top-quality fuel at all times.”
Throughout the week, PETROSOL is celebrating its loyal customers and frontline service staff, whose dedication, according to the company, drives its success.
“Our goal is not just to serve fuel, but to build trust — one litre at a time,” Mr. Bosumbil added.
The statement reinforces PETROSOL’s alignment with COMAC’s mission to foster a responsible, transparent, and customer-focused petroleum industry that supports national energy security and fair competition.
