The Ghana Industrial Trawlers Association (GITA) has held its first-ever Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Ocean Green Beach Resort, marking a significant milestone in the history of the association and the broader industrial trawler sector.
The meeting brought together trawler owners, directors, and stakeholders to assess the progress of the industry and set a new direction for the future.
A major highlight of the AGM was the election of new executives to steer the affairs of the association. Mr. Dominic Danquah was elected president, with Mr. Kojo Ampratwum as vice president.
Mr. Danny Quaye was chosen as secretary, while Mr. Jerome Deamesi and Mr. Ohene Nana Kessie will serve as financial secretary and treasurer respectively.
In his farewell address, outgoing president Mr. Stephen Adjokatcher expressed his gratitude to members for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
He assured the new leadership of his continued guidance and pledged to work with them to strengthen the association’s role in advancing the industrial trawler sector.
The AGM was hailed as a turning point for GITA, signaling a renewed commitment to effective leadership, unity among members, and stronger collaboration with regulators and stakeholders in Ghana’s fisheries industry.
