Nigerian authorities have arrested a 49-year-old businessman who presented himself as a dealer in gold and luxury goods after seizing 184.5kg of cocaine allegedly destined for the United Kingdom.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said the cocaine, valued at nearly $28 million, was concealed in brown boxes at a courier facility in Lagos on August 3, 2026.
The agency identified the suspect as Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as “KC Luxury,” who has about 700,000 followers on Instagram.
According to the NDLEA, Micheal was arrested 10 days after the cocaine seizure at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to board a business-class flight to Paris.
The agency alleged that Micheal was the Nigerian “arrowhead” of an international trafficking network moving cocaine from South America through Nigeria to Europe and Asia.
At the time of his arrest, the NDLEA said he was carrying more than $12,840 in euros, pounds and naira, as well as expensive jewellery.
A second suspect, identified as 33-year-old Lawal Mujab Kehinde, was also arrested. The NDLEA alleged that he worked for a logistics company used to transport the cocaine and was involved in packaging the drugs for export.
The agency said other suspected members of the network had been arrested in the United Kingdom by law enforcement authorities there.
Micheal and Kehinde have not publicly commented on the allegations and have not been charged in court, according to the information available.
NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa said the arrests demonstrated the importance of international cooperation in tackling transnational drug trafficking and warned that the agency would continue pursuing other members of the network.
