The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, in partnership with Unilever Ghana and Diagnostic Centre Limited, recently brought the Q3 HEAL programme to the Awudua community in the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipality.
Over 390 residents received free medical care, including screenings for blood glucose, blood pressure, malaria, tuberculosis, typhoid, HIV, as well as eye, ENT and dental check ups.
Intensive laboratory services such as hepatitis B, hemoglobin, ultrasound and spirometry were also provided, with medications given to those in need.
More than 260 residents were enrolled or renewed on the National Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring continued access to essential healthcare.
The outreach was aligned with World Hepatitis Day under the theme “Elimination for Everyone, Everywhere, Right Now,” reinforcing the global call to eliminate Hepatitis B as a public health threat by 2030. Diagnostic Centre Limited sponsored all laboratory and diagnostic services, while Unilever Ghana supported with donations of hygiene and personal care products.
Over GHS450,000 was invested in this initiative which aligns with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Since its inception, the Foundation has invested over US$5 million in health initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to the growth and wellbeing of our host communities.
