The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation is making significant strides in its mission to transform lives through education, as its scholarship programme continues to support hundreds of young people across its host communities.
So far, a total of 2,736 students have benefitted from the initiative, with 469 currently pursuing various academic programmes under the Foundation’s sponsorship.
The Foundation’s commitment goes beyond just awarding scholarships. In a bid to monitor students’ academic performance, wellbeing, and discipline, the Foundation undertakes regular visits to institutions where its scholars are enrolled.
Last year, the team engaged students in institutions across the Greater Accra, Central, and Western Regions.
This year, those monitoring efforts extended further, reaching students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi Technical University, Mac Partners Training Institute in Obuasi, the University of Energy and Natural Resources in Sunyani, the University of Mines and Technology (Essikado campus), and the Takoradi Technical University.
During these visits, Foundation representatives not only interacted with students but also met with school authorities to discuss strategies to enhance the academic journey of their scholars.
These engagements are seen as a critical part of the Foundation’s hands-on approach to ensuring that its beneficiaries stay on track and have the support they need to succeed.
