Gold Fields Ghana has organised an Obesity Awareness Health Walk at its Tarkwa Mine, drawing participation from more than 1,000 employees in a show of commitment to health and wellbeing.
The event, held as part of efforts to promote healthy living among staff, featured a 5.28-kilometre walk from Tahiru Square to the mine’s swiping gate. The exercise was led by the Manager of Tarkwa Mine, Dr. Catherine Kuupol Kuutor.
Despite a heavy downpour during the activity, participants remained undeterred, completing the walk with enthusiasm, accompanied by music and high energy.

The initiative formed part of the company’s broader wellness programme aimed at encouraging healthier lifestyles and fostering a strong sense of community among employees.
Gold Fields Ghana commended all participants for their commitment and acknowledged the efforts of its Wellbeing team for organising the event.

The company also recognised the contributions of the Protection Services and Health and Safety teams for ensuring the safety of participants throughout the exercise.
The health walk underscores the company’s ongoing efforts to promote wellness and demonstrate that healthy living can be both impactful and engaging.
