The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), in collaboration with Better Brands of Zimbabwe, has begun a series of engagements aimed at advancing the formalization of Ghana’s artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector.
The initiative focuses on strengthening financial and structural support systems for miners, particularly those involved in hard rock mining.
Central to the discussions is the proposed establishment of a dedicated financing centre that will improve access to capital for artisanal miners, enabling them to scale up operations more sustainably.

Beyond financing, the engagement is also exploring the provision of modern machinery and technical services to enhance productivity and efficiency within the sector.
This includes plans to supply processing plants and other production equipment designed to optimize mineral recovery and reduce losses.

The collaboration forms part of broader efforts by GoldBod to streamline ASM operations, improve regulatory compliance, and promote responsible mining practices, while boosting the overall contribution of the sector to Ghana’s economy.
